Your core assessments (both positive and negative) drive your behaviour

If you’ve ever asked yourself the question ‘Why am I like this?’ – Core assessments may be the answer.

At a young age we learn ‘who we are’ in the world. This includes what we feel makes us acceptable/ not acceptable. The quote, ‘Children are like wet cement. Whatever falls on them makes an impression,’ highlights the power of core assessments. For example, a child who felt rejected may hold the negative core assessment of ‘I’m not enough/ worthy’. This assessment will silently drive their behaviour in adulthood as they relentlessly strive to prove their worth to others and themselves. Let’s not forget that we were once those children!

I see many clients who, despite meditating on positive affirmations, continue to feel stuck in their default thinking and behaviour patterns. I have found that visiting their core assessments often leads to breakthrough. As adults we have the ability to revisit, reassess and either accept or reject these unwanted companions.
